Viewport into a matrix

I'm having trouble getting the viewport to work with mercury particle engine. I need to use a matrix with MPE but this doesn't have one. Does anyone have any information on creating a matrix from the viewport object?

I don't know how MPE works but I presume you need to set up your view matrix in the form of translation in X and Y. I think you can get this working by feeding the viewport's negated X and Y properties.
